Layout Marking robot "HOKUSAI" strengthens product appeal with drawing function

Mirai Kikai Co., Ltd. exhibited its marking robot "HOKUSAI" at "INTERGEO2024" (September 24th to September 26th, 2024), one of the world's largest surveying and geographic information exhibitions held in Messe Stuttgart, Germany, and will strengthen product appeal with a new drawing function, in addition to the conventional marking work at construction sites.

"Marking" at a construction site is the work of directly marking lines and points that serve as the reference for the building on the site based on the design drawings. This clarifies the position, dimensions, and horizontal and vertical standards of the building, ensuring that the construction is carried out accurately. Our marking robot can automatically perform marking with a high accuracy of 1-3mm (depending on the distance between the robot and range finder) while checking the exact site position with a range finder (manufactured by Leica Geosystems) based on the design data.

Focusing on the precise printing performance of our marking robot's XY Gantry System (plotter-type printing function), it is now possible to draw finer and more precise figures and illustrations on the floor with a high degree of accuracy than is possible with general marking work that consists of lines and dots.

To coincide with this exhibition, we named the product "HOKUSAI" and prepared a special body wrap that evokes the image of Hokusai. The detailed reproduction of Katsushika Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," which is popular in Europe, on the floor of the exhibition booth attracted attention, with one visitor even praising it, saying "it looks as if Hokusai is in the robot, moving his paintbrush."

In the future, we plan to expand our sales channels beyond the construction industry, by introducing our products to a wide range of industries that require more precise and flexible drawing, such as store design, exhibition booth construction, and the layout of production equipment at high-tech factories such as semiconductors.
